Where We First Met

Santa Barbara Pier

Candy shop on the pier

Butterfly beach

He loves his daddy!
This weekend we decided to go back to the beginning....where we fell in love. Santa Barbara.  We stayed with our good friends Layne and Bret. They have a great place in Ventura.  We enjoyed a sunset walk on the beach followed by dinner in downtown Ventura.  Saturday morning we drove up to Santa Barbara and spent the day walking around town, walking by the beach, and driving around Westmont.

Big City Part Two

I was privileged to accompany Mikey on his Chicago interview trip.  The real reason I wanted to come was to visit my friend Lisa.  Lisa and Jared moved to the city six months ago from my hometown of Woodinville. I couldn't wait for the chance to spend time with her!

Lisa took us all around the city.  We walked to the Bean....

Then we walked down Michagan Avenue... looking at all the shops and city sights.

We went to the top of Hancock tower and enjoyed a view of the whole city!

We also went to the aquarium and showed Isaiah all the different water creatures.

We had the best time in Illinois.... who knows, we could be back!

Merry White Christmas!

Family shot in Beaver Creek

Getting ready to go to the Christmas Eve Service

Isaiah loved playing with the crinkly candy cane

We woke up on Christmas day to snow! So of course we put Isaiah in a sleigh!

The snow makes everything look so pretty!

Reaching for his gift.

Amazed with the bow!

Boys being boys... notice Mikey is putting together his lego set... What?

Made it back to Cali in time to see Sarah and

Matthew!

Aunt Sarah's Digs

Yep, I loaded Isaiah up AGAIN for another trip.  This trip was a lot shorter but still just as much work.  On Friday my friend Katie and I drove down to San Diego (pretty much Mexico) to see Sarah.  She is currently living right on the beach.  We stayed one night and enjoyed the gorgeous beach and nice warm weather!

This is my favorite sequence of pictures... Sarah is holding Isaiah

Getting a little madder....

Angry!

Katie and I- and cute Isaiah

This was the end of our trip.... I will spare you the details of what happened after this :)

A Traveling Doctor

We are in the midst of what they call "interview season" here in medical school.  Mikey is in his last year of medical school and during this time all students are applying and interviewing for a residency position.  Mikey is going to be an emergency room doctor.  His residency will be 3 or 4 years depending on the program.  He has applied to places all over the United States, it is very competitive this year and we are praying that he just gets a spot somewhere! For those of you that are unfamiliar with these medical terms (I was), Residency is when you train in your specialty, you are a full fledged doctor at that point receiving a small pay check.

Mikey just returned last night from Chattanooga  Tennessee! He interviewed at a hospital there.  He has already interviewed at Loma Linda and UC Davis.  In December and January he will travel to Georgia, North Carolina, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.  He will most likely be going on more interviews, we are just waiting to receive those invites! (any day)

Here are some pictures of our little doctor in training! Halloween 2012

The Baby in two Big Cities

During the first month of Isaiah's life, we have done a lot of adjusting.  Not only were we figuring out a new baby but Mikey has been figuring out his career!  He spend four weeks working at a hospital in Sacramento.  It was so wonderful because he got to stay with my brother and sister in law.  Isaiah and I joined him for the last week of his rotation.  It was such a blessing to stay at their house and spend time with Anna!  The cousins got to meet for the first time.  Anna was not very interested in Isaiah at first... she still isn't that interested but she was able to acknowledge that he was there! They are very cute together and I can't wait till they can run around together.  Mikey and I also went on a date without the baby! Jonathan and Lesley were are first babysitters!! Can you guys do it again? haha

Mikey and I decided to spend two days in San Fran.  It was so much fun! We both really love that city and KNEW that Isaiah would too!  He was the star of the Cable Car ride.  He loved looking out the window and the people loved looking at him!  He did so good as we shopped, ate, and walked around.

Since being home I have been very closely monitoring Isaiah and trying to put him on a schedule.  He is pretty consistent in his daily wake up and nap times.  His sleeping at night is also getting better too.  Certainly everyday is slightly different...but I like consistency.  He is also getting bigger by the day!

New York Minute

The girls trip to New York was like a dream...did it really happen? For my moms 60th birthday we celebrated Miller style....a weekend in the Big Apple! It felt wrong but it was so right! We jet set across the country to spend time shopping, eating, watching the Rockettes and the Nutcracker. We even ice skated in Central Park (for free!) and saw the Statue of Liberty. We stayed in a nice house one block from Central Park, close to Starbucks and the metro. We saw the beautiful Christmas lights and embraced the cold weather. I can't wait for the next adventure!
