This weekend we decided to go back to the beginning....where we fell in love. Santa Barbara. We stayed with our good friends Layne and Bret. They have a great place in Ventura. We enjoyed a sunset walk on the beach followed by dinner in downtown Ventura. Saturday morning we drove up to Santa Barbara and spent the day walking around town, walking by the beach, and driving around Westmont.
Mikey and I just decided on Saturday morning to pack up and go to the beach. It was spur of the moment...so we didn't have everything we exactly needed. oh well. (no hat, sunscreen..for baby) We did stop by Walmart on the way and get a cheap beach tent. We are testing it out to see if we will keep, it was cheap though. I also forgot his little buckets at home, so he just had his favorite keys and ball that were in my bag. It does take a while to get the beach from our house....so we eventually got there around 1:00. We lasted about 1.5 hours before I walked back to the car with a screaming baby. I didn't lay out or anything... The pictures depict a sweet time though :) I know what to do differently for the next trip but I am glad we went. It was the PERFECT beach day!
Before Isaiah and I met up with Katelyn and Christian.... We played at the swings!
This is at my parent's playground... boy did he love to feel the wind in his hair!
My mom, Isaiah, and I made the journey to San Diego.
Katelyn and Kerry were down for the week in beautiful La Jolla!
It was so great to see the boys getting bigger! Next time, they may intentionally interact with each other. Now we just need to plan the next time.... and it needs to be longer!
One month till Match Day! Now, if you already know what match day is, then don't read this post :)
This is how it works: Mikey is applying to be an Emergency Room Physician. He interviewed at 12 programs across the nation.....Now that he done with all his interviews, we put the programs in order of where we would like to go. Mikey then submits the list through the online database. Once it's submitted you can't change the order. All the programs rank each interviewee in order of who they liked....they submit their list to the computer......
On Friday, March 15 each fourth year medical student across the country receives an envelope that tells them where they are going. The computer does an algorithm and spits out an answer as to which program you have matched at... We could get our number 1 choice or or number 12 choice.... only the Lord knows!
Here is a video that shows one school's version of match day. Loma Linda does it on a smaller scale.
This is to help you get a picture of how exciting it is!
It is Mikey's and I's desire that Isaiah comes to know the Lord at a young age. That is why a baby dedication is so important, we are committing our son to the Lord, and the community that we are in helps and supports us.
The verses that we picked out is found in Romans, it has been on our fridge for well over a year now. We prayed these verses over Jonathan and decided to pray these over Isaiah.
Romans 8:29-30
29-30 God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him. After God made that decision of what his children should be like, he followed it up by calling people by name. After he called them by name, he set them on a solid basis with himself. And then, after getting them established, he stayed with them to the end, gloriously completing what he had begun.
